NASA Experiential
Design

An experience emphasizing the wonder of space.

An interdisciplinary collaborative project between several designers tasked with creating a multi-part conceptual experience for NASA’s Kennedy Space Center.

Project Overview

This collaborative project revolves around the conception of a three-part experience that would exist at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSP) in Orlando, Florida. Combining the expertise of graphic designers, interior designers, an architect, and an industrial designer, we tasked ourselves with creating a concept for a hotel, a mobile learning unit, and an immersive art exhibit. I was responsible for developing the kinetic logo system, branding system, animation, wayfinding, and pamphlet designs.

Other collaborators: Ashtyn Hutcheson, Carley Hagan, Farah Khaleel, Megan Harms, Mia Marco, Will Schuemann

Design

Our objective was to create a harmonious experience that captures the beauty and wonder of space, contrasting many of the existing attractions of KSP, which utilize a more scientific approach to learning. Our site consists of three components: Helios Hotel, Asteria Art Exhibit, and the Luna Explorer, which is a mobile learning unit. We devised a dynamic branding system that serves as the foundation for each of these components. Our overall visual language for both the brand and the site itself can be characterized by employing curved lines, along with simple geometric shapes to create an organic, yet structured visual framework that can be adapted into several different patterns and textures which can then be translated across each component.
